Sparrow House Counseling

Joshua Edds

MA, LPC-A, Supervised by Angie Knight Buja, MA, LPC-S

Josh earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology along with a minor in religious studies at Oklahoma State University in 2001. Shortly after graduating, Josh moved to Ft. Worth where he attended Southwestern Seminary and earned a Master of Divinity in 2006. Josh served as a student pastor for almost 20 years in various churches across the country. In 2015 he felt God was calling him to a new chapter in life where he would serve as a hospice chaplain. Through his chaplaincy experience, he began to witness firsthand the reality of addiction, grief, depression, trauma, and anxiety. Encountering people struggling with difficult problems motivated Josh to obtain a second master’s degree, this time in clinical mental health counseling from the University of Texas at Tyler.

Josh is adept at working with adults, couples and senior adults. He has experience working with individuals experiencing depression, grief, anxiety, addiction, developmental and life adjustment issues, and self-worth and identity concerns. Josh also is trained in Prepare/Enrich premarital & marital counseling. He has a strong conviction that individuals seeking counseling already have some part of them that believes they can get better. Therefore, he enjoys partnering with people to help them discover their innate strength to overcome whatever is bothering them. Josh believes that one of the most important aspects of counseling is the therapeutic relationship between the client and counselor. Because of this belief he strives to create a nonjudgmental safe space where his clients feel free to discuss whatever is bothering them.

Josh enjoys spending time with his friends and family. He loves to travel the world & has experienced cultures from eight different countries and three different continents. Josh also enjoys reading, good music, and being a life-long learner.
