Sparrow House Counseling

Wendy Torres

LCSW

Wendy grew up in Garland and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in History from Texas Woman’s University, as well as a Master of Social Work from the University of Texas at Arlington. Wendy’s desire to pursue counseling began through her volunteer work with survivors of sexual assault at DARCC and through the privilege of witnessing survivors take charge of their healing journeys.

Wendy’s clinical training and professional experience span a variety of therapeutic settings, including providing school-based therapy in the public school system, intensive outpatient programs (IOP), foster care, and international work with the International Justice Mission (IJM), where she supported youth and families who experienced exploitation and adversity.

Wendy is passionate about helping adolescents feel understood, supported, and empowered as they work toward their goals. She believes meaningful change happens within safe, trusting relationships. Wendy integrates trauma-informed and strengths-based approaches, grounded in the belief that each individual possesses natural resilience and an innate capacity for growth. She partners with individuals to help them recognize and develop their own strengths as they work through life’s challenges.

Outside of sessions, Wendy enjoys movie nights while her husband accurately predicts the ending, exploring new coffee shops, and taking outdoor walks with her newborn daughter.
